Lift Up Your Heart

Lift Up Your Heart

7-20-25

Psalms 62:8

Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah

Selah

means to pause and think about what God is saying .

  1. Trust
  2. Pour out your heart
  3. God is our refuge

As a Christian we understand from reading the Bible that there is a kingdom of light and a kingdom of darkness,

Reading Isaiah 14:12-25 and Ezekiel 28:11-19, we see the description of the fall of Satan and the coming of the kingdom of darkness.

The devil has come to kill, steal and destroy all man kind, also

He is going about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.

As the midnight hour draws closer, we know that spiritual warfare has increased and we must guard our hearts.

With our speech we can either bring about healing or division.

No foul language should come out of our mouth.

What we feed grows and what we starve dies,

And what we have hidden in our hearts will eventually come out through our speech, as described in Luke 6:45.

Whether we do good or do evil it begins in the heart and the manner of speech we use describes the type of heart that we have.

In the 70’s  a phrase by Flip Wilson became popular, and even Christians would say “ The Devil Made me Do It”. I confess I said it, but I didn’t understand what I had spoke in jest.

I believe Satan created this saying to take away the trust that we have in Christ.

Words spoken in anger, can be compared to spears thrown at a person that wounds the heart and often times kills the spirit of a person. This is verbal abuse.

Satan wants to shred the heart to pieces, to keep us focused more on the issue rather than the healing.

What we feed grows and what we starve dies,

And what we have hidden in our hearts will eventually come out through our speech, as described in Luke 6:45.

God is Our Refuge

Each one of us has faced a storm in life that almost sunk the ship, a real trial of our faith.

To trust someone shows we have confidence in them. We believe what they say, they really are doing.

However many have had trust broken, by slander, or deception that shakes a person to their core.

We are to follow peace and to encourage one another in the Lord, especially those that are in need of hearing grace.

If we want our prayers answered ,forgive those that has committed a trespass against you, if you don’t then our heavenly Father will not forgive us.

The disciples went through a couple of these storms with Jesus.

Satan sent a storm trying to kill Jesus, the greek word for this storm is seimos- earthquake. A tsunami with waves covering the ship.

While the storm raged, Jesus slept. The bible says the disciples came to him and woke him up, saying, Lord save us lest we perish.{Mathew 8:24]

Pour out your heart  to the Lord

God knows your storm that you are in today, and our prayer can be “Lord save us lest we perish”.

Psalms 32:7

Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah

One day in the future, there is a storm that is going to sweep across the world that will affect everyone that is alive, it will last for 7 years and it is called the the great tribulation {Mathew 24:21-22}

There is a misconception  and confusion among Christians that those that have accepted Christ as their savior will go through this storm also. There are those that scoff at those that believe what God’s Word states, and have said there will be no secret rapture take place.

Well I agree with the one that said that, the entire world will know on that day.

Scripture clearly state in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, ‘the dead in Christ shall arise first, and then those remaining shall rise to meet the Lord in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Romans 5:9

“We shall be saved from wrath through Jesus” we are justified through salvation.

What is this wrath?  A terrible judgement poured out from God upon those that remain, because of sin and un-belief.

The Book of Revelation describes what will take place, beginning in chapter  6:1 through chapter 19:11

“The tribulation saints will be martyred during the first 3.5 years of the tribulation” [1.]

A highlight of the wrath to come.

The brunt of the wrath will be in 1/4 of the world that will include the Mediterranean are as well as most of, if not all of Europe, including the Soviet Union {Daniel 11:44}  (2)

The entire world will be affected Rev 6:12 the planetary bodies are affected by 1/3/of sun gone, 1/3 of moon gone, 1/3 of stars gone

1/3Earth burned, 1/3 trees burned, 1/3 sea becomes blood, 1/3 of living sea creature die, 1/3 of ships destroyed, 1/3  pf streams and rivers becoming contaminated with wormwood.

No buying or selling without the mark of the beast- Antichrist.

Once the mark is taken, in the palm or on the forehead, your goose is cooked. Literally – eternity in hell

There will be nations that come out of the great tribulation and that will go into the Millennial which is another study in itself.

Lift Up Your Head

Lift Up Your Head

7-27-25

Psalms 3:3

But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.

In our natural lives we go to work in order to earn money to live, and always it seems with the thought just a few more years and I will be able to retire, but do you realize that as a Christian there is no retirement until He calls us home.

We are living in a fast paced world today. There is still 24 hours in a day, but how often have you heard where did time go. Up early late to bed, Oh sorry Lord I had no time today to spend with you, but tomorrow will be another day, so we say each night and everyday

The slip, sliding away from the Lord becomes easier, then before we know it we are stuck in the mire clay and then we wonder why I feel downcast in my soul?

We are in spiritual warfare and it is only going to increase as the midnight hour draws closer. Satan is out to destroy and often time we get blindsided by our peers or even by those that we thought loved us, and now we are in an emotional crisis.

Mathew 11:28-30

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Many times we think that we are the only ones that feels despair and no hope for the way out of the situation that we find ourselves in.

Pg. 2

Often we try as to climb out of our despair on our own strength only to lose our grip and fall back into that deep dark hole of despair thinking there is no hope and often times going deeper into that hole!

Despair is a lack of hope, yet the challenge we often face is making the choice to “Cast all of our cares upon the Lord”. {1 Peter 5:7}

Friends though the hour seems dark and the battle rages in our mind, We have a friend that is closer than a brother and we never have to be lonely again.

Only Jesus can satisfy the soul!

Only Jesus can give the peace that is desperately needed in the time of Despair!

Take that step of Faith this day and give all your troubles to Jesus!

Remember Jesus is not only your friend.  He is the King of Kings and our salvation!

For the Scripture reads, Whosoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed! Romans 10:11

Luke 1:37

For withGodnothing shall be impossible.

The battles that King David and his mean faced were not only physical but spiritual also.

David did not become king of Israel immediately. He faced great opposition, and it was  so intense, that he had to flee the country that he had been anointed by God to be the king.

In spite of the many errors that David committed, he knew what God had called him to, and he persevered and kept pressing forward.

In 1 Chronicles 12 we read that David kept himself close, which means he surrounded himself with men that were loyal to him. They were mighty men of valor, that had separated themselves from King Saul, who once knew God.

PG 3

These men that had separated themselves, were men well trained in the art of warfare. In spite of the many hardships that they faced, they recognized the anointing that David had, and chose to go wherever David went. They also experienced great distress at various times.

David cried out to God.

Psalms120:1

In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me.

David is one of the many examples of a man that was anointed by God and records the various emotional crisis that he experienced

 Psalms 351 Plead my cause, O Lord, with those who strive with me;

Fight against those who fight against me.

Beginning in 2 Samuel 23:11 we can read about some of the mighty men of valor that was with David.

The Tachmonite who was  chief among the captains was called Adino,

he had killed eight hundred men at one time.  Think about that for a moment.  When Adino got up that morning, he knew that he was going into a battle, where the enemy was going to do their best to kill him. .However, he had to take up his weapon, which in this instance was a spear.

Though the scripture does not mention any wounds that he may have received in that battle, logic would say he had some.

In spite of being wounded, he pressed forward. It was the anointing of the Lord that came upon him to be able to persevere throughout the day.

Then there was a man named Shammah,

David’s body guard.

He was an owner of a piece of ground that he grew pea’s on.

One day when harvest was about to begin, the enemy came rushing in to steal what he had labored for.

Pg 4

He said enough is enough, today I am taking a stand against the enemy.

God gave him a great victory.

What then shall we say to these things?

Lift up your head this day and take a stand against the enemy

Let this sink in

Romans 8:31

If God is for us, who can be against us?

Learn the lesson that David and other men of past times have learned

Psalms 56:3-4

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?

Lift Up Your Head!

Keep pressing forward! God is not done with you yet!

Luke 1:37

For withGodnothing shall be impossible.

How We Live

As we observe the craziness going on, we are reminded by the scripture found in 2 Timothy 3 that indeed we are living in the last of the last days.

How we live depends on what we believe!

Romans 8:9

But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

The most important thing to know is where you are going to spend eternity and having the blessed assurance that as we live accordingly to God’s Prescribed Order, we indeed will spend eternity in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

JOHN 17:3

And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

There is only one true God. There is only one way to Heaven and that is through the Blood of Jesus that He shed on Calvary’s tree by dying and rising again on the 3rd day. God’s amazing Love how can it be, we that have accepted Jesus as our savior, know this amazing Love, and know that we have the assurance that are His child.

As we study the Bible and rightly understand it we will gain Spiritual Knowledge.

PHILLIPIANS 3:10

10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,

Staying on The Path

PS 119:“35 Make me to go in the path of Your Commandments; for therein do I delight. (The sense of this Verse is that the human heart is so turned away from the Paths of God that the Holy Spirit must use Power to bring us back to the correct path, and will do so only upon the petitioning cry of a searching heart.

INTRO: Have you ever wondered how the pioneers of the early 1800’s navigated across this vast country from the east to the mountains of the west.

How did pioneers blaze a trail?

Early settlers in North America, from the late 1600s onwards, would mark out a trail in the thick forests by cutting a blaze mark into the bark on the trunks of trees to show the way to those behind them as the lighter inner wood would show brightly against the dark bark.

The oldest section of the National Road is the original Cumberland Trail blazed by General Braddock during the French and Indian War,.

In 1797 veteran Col. Ebenezer Zane responded to the needs of these west bound migrants by establishing Zane’s Trace, a rough wagon road based on old Indian trails, from Wheeling, (West) Virginia to Maysville, Kentucky. referred to as the Cumberland Road.

Now in the modern day that we live in there are various navigation tools, many can be downloaded onto phone apps,. Yet deep into a forest no satellite service.  What then.

The answer is preparation before hiking. Having the proper gear, enough food and water, a source to purify water as needed , a topographical map is essential, also a compass, and knowledge how to use.

Why then do so many  get lost.

They have wandered off the path that led to the destination, onto paths that seemed to be a more direct way  only to realize after traveling a distance and not really paying attention, the shock of not knowing where to turn sets in.

While living in Colorado my brother would often hike the rainbow trail. Wet Cliffe Co, which is 29 miles in length with an elevation gain of 6,190 feet.

One day while out on the trail, he met a fellow that was close to hypothermia, this fellow was unprepared for the changes in weather, shorts and a thin jacket.  Ron informed him he was close to the trail head & just stay on the path down.

A year later Ron met the same fellow on the trail. Dress like he was the previous year, shorts and light jacket. It was obvious this fellow didn’t apply what he experienced before and was setting himself up for hardships.

From Westcliffe looking up into the mountains there is a favorite place hikers go to, It is called the needles. Crestone Needle elevation is 14,265 feet and is classified as class 3,  daunting, every year people  get lost, injured or perish, requiring search and rescue to go trying to locate them. Unfortunately some have never been found.

Why did this occur, The hikers left the path, thinking they knew what they were doing, ignoring the instruction’s for that trail.

Interesting, you might say, but then how does this apply to me as a christian.

Every individual that lives on planet earth, and also for those that are currently in outer space, a road map to life has been created, which one we choose to follow will determine our final destination.

Broad & wide leads to destruction on a downward slippery slope to hell, for eternity, but the straight and narrow leads to the being in the presence of God for eternity.

What map are you using.

There is a difference from believing in God to Knowing God.

James 2:19 You believe there is one God you do well; the devils also believe and tremble.

To know God is to apply Romans 10:8,9,10 to your life.

8. But what does it say? The Word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart: that is, the Word of Faith which we preach. 9. That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be Saved. 10. For with the heart man believes unto Righteousness; and with confession is made unto Salvation .

As I was working on preparing this lesson, the power went out.

No lights, no phone, because of no internet, in order for me to finish, time to start the generator

There is a process that had to be followed in order for me to restore power

For the wayward christian that has strayed from the path  of righteousness, there is a process that must be followed to return to Christ.

Is it a 12 step program?  Do I need to confess my sins before man.

So what is the process I must do?

It is very simple, apply 1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.

Look at the word if,   If is a conditional word— You have a choice whether or not you are going to do

Example {if  I go to church on Sunday and if you come we will see each other}

If I go to work & if I perform my job, then I will get paid if the employer has any money

Do you get the point

IF WE CONFESS=== Many confess their sin yet return to them, because they have found pleasure in their sin

You see it is not mere confession, but the process is we acknowledge our sin to God, and ask for forgiveness.

But you might say to me, I have done that before and I still am plagued by this habitual sin

Deliverance comes, when we quit trying to overcome in ourselves but realize and apply what Jesus did for you and I when He went to the cross and paid the penalty for every sin that mankind has ever committed.

Friends we must become like a stamp that has been put on a letter, that has the proper amount of glue and when applied will stay on that letter until you remove it.

Ps 119:31 “31 I have stuck unto Your Testimonies: O LORD, put me not to shame. (The word “stuck” actually means “I have been glued to.” Let it be known that being glued to “Your Testimonies” is not one way of victory, but the only way.)”

In order though  for the testimony of God to stick, we must hid the Word of God in our hearts.

Ps 119:120. My flesh trembles for the fear of You, And I am afraid of Your Judgments.

Most of the modern day church has lost their fear of God,

Why is that, The preachers and teachers have quit  dealing with sin and turned more to a social gospel, avoiding subjects that pertain to penalties of sin

Jeremiah 2:11-13 11 Has a nation changed its gods,

Which are not gods?

But My people have changed their Glory

For what does not profit.

12 Be astonished, O heavens, at this,

And be horribly afraid;

Be very desolate,” says the Lord.

13 “For My people have committed two evils:

They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters,

And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water

God is no respecter of persons, Sin is sin in the eyes of God no matter whom commits it.

Now is the time to plow up any hard ground of your hearts, Cleanse our minds and hearts before the Lord

Recognizing it is not By might nor by power but by MY Spirit says the Lord of Host Ze. 4:6 —- that we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus—-Ro 8:37

A Place Called Space

Psalm 120:1 (NLT)

1  I took my troubles to the LORD; I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer.

THE WORD BELOW WAS GIVEN BY REV M.E. TAYLOR and was found in MY Mothers papers.

MY PEOPLE MUST REMEMBER WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN, & WHERE THEY ARE GOING.

THERE IS A “SPACE”, BETWEEN AND THAT CAN CAUSE THEM ANXIETY AND FEAR, AND UNBELIEF.THIS SPIRIT CAN CAUSE MY PEOPLE TO FORGET THEIR GOAL.

THIS “SPACE” IS CALLED “LIFE” , IN IT’S EVERY FORM

IN THAT “SPACE” CALLED LIFE; ONE WHO HAS BEEN REDEEMED BY THE BLOOD OF CHRIST JESUS, HAS ONE WHO ALWAYS WALKS WITH IN IN SUNSHINE AND IN RAIN. JESUS, AND ALL HIS NAME MEANS.

THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD IS A GUARD, TO KEEP HEARTS AND MINDS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS, AND ALL THAT HIS WORD PROMISES.

DIGESTING GOD”S WORD GIVES FAITH TO GO THROUGH EVERY VALLEY AND EVERY PART OF THAT SPACE. WITH VICTORY, NOT OF FEAR, BUT OF PEACE.GOD’S PEACE IS NOT UNDERSTOOD WITHOUT THE FAITH GOD GIVES.

THIS FAITH COMETH BY HEARING, AND THIS HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD.

WE MUST EVER REMEMBER THAT THE FAITH GOD GIVES ALWAYS COMES THROUGH THE CHANNEL OF HIS WORD.

THE FEAR OF MAN, AND THE FEAR OF GOD, HAVE NO FELLOWSHIP ONE WITH THE OTHER!

“ YOU THAT FEAR THE LORD, TRUST IN THE LORD: “

HE IS THEIR HELP AND THEIR SHIELD”  PS 115:11

ONLY CHILDREN ARE AFRAID OF SHADOWS!  ADULTS EXPLAIN THAT A “SHADOW” CANNOT HARM ANYONE…

JUST THEN, THE SUN BREAKS THROUGH!

NOT A SHADOW ANYWHERE!

JESUS, AS LORD, IS CALLED “THE SON OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. {MAL. 4:2, PS. 94:11 “FOR THE LORD GOD IS A SUN AND A SHIELD:

THE LORD WILL GIVE GRACE AND GLORY.

NO GOOD THING WILL HE WITH HOLD FROM THEM THAT WALK UPRIGHTLY.

O, LORD OF HOST, BLESSED {HAPPY, REJOICING} IS THE MAN THAT TRUSTS IN YOU”!

THIS WONDERFUL SAVIOR WILL NOT DESERT US AT ANY PART OF OUR LIVES

DRY TIMES WILL COME,

BUT HE IS THE LIVING WATER

Wisdom 3/25/2023

WISDOM

PROVERBS 1:7

7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,

But fools despise wisdom and instruction

1. Man is a “free moral agent,” which means that man’s relationship with God exists entirely on a voluntary basis. The wills of all free moral agents must first be tested and then purged of any possibility of falling, so as not to mar God’s eternal plan.

Finis Jennings Dake, Ages and Dispensations, n.d.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him

The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Jas 1:4–5.

wis·dom | ˈwizdəm |

noun

the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise:

To have knowledge one must study the subject matter, understand and be able to apply that knowledge.

As with any profession that a person engages in, whether it may be a doctor, nurse, requires a continued education of new medicines as an example.

The skill that it takes to be a surgeon comes from experience, through the guidance of those that have acquired the knowledge,

pertains to the proper knowledge of the Word of God.

Wise men still seek Jesus

“IF ANY OF YOU LACK WISDOM”

To have the insight of God,  Requires us to have the written

Word of God hidden in our hearts

WISDOM from God is having the insight of God to handle life as it comes at us. 2 Tim 2:15

Psalms 119:11. Your Word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against You.

2 Tim 2:19 The Foundation of God stands sure, having this seal, The Lord knows them who are His. And, Let every one whom names the Name of Christ depart from iniquity.————-Immoral behavior———the works of the flesh Gal 5:19

Filling our retainer[minds] with the Word of God is necessary,  this allows the Holy Spirit to bring to remembrance as we share God’s Word with others to bring encouragement at their point of need.

The application of God’s word can be and should be done in every aspect of our life, not just in a time of crisis, but daily,

Each time I read the Bible, I ask God to give me understanding and help in applying the Word to my life.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Tuff Question——have I hiden the Word of God in My heart

Satan is the one that upbraids us, brings condemnation and criticizes our faith that we have received forgiveness.  Satan finds fault and then exploits it, trying to make us to see ourselves as failures, diverting us from the truth of the Word of God!

Satan’s plan is to destroy and kill.

Destroy one’s reputation using people that profess Christianity

and with their tongue they create sparks of discord among those that would listen, by their fruits  you shall know them !

Do not draw back from the Lord , But lay aside all malice,

(Righteousness, Peace, and Joy alone will bring men together).”

but not contention, quarreling, and fighting in the Church) brings division

Jeremiah 4:22

“22 For My People is foolish, they have not known Me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

(‘The last phrase, “They are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge,” is striking! They would manufacture many ways to sin, i.e., “wise to do evil,” but they had no knowledge of God, despite the fact that they were God’s chosen People. Their lack of “knowledge” was because of their abandonment of the Bible.“}”ESB”

Sottish definition {HSN-<5530>silly–foolish

Proverbs 11:12 He that is void of wisdom despises his neighbor , but a man of understanding holds his peace.

A foolish person is one that continually stirs up strife. Strife is the expression of “enmity” Romans 1:29 also contentions 2 Cor. 12:20

If one continues  with contention, then you have opened yourself up to spiritual failure and reproof from the Lord

——walking in the imagination of their own hearts as in the ways of the world

Will destroy one and all.——-This  presumptuous sinning despises the Word of God and puts Christ to open shame (Heb. 10:26–29

Hebrews 10:35. Cast not away therefore your confidence which has great recompense of reward.

REVELATION 21:8

8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burn’s with fire and brimstone: which is the second death

THERE ARE 2 FACTS PRESENTED IN THIS VERSE:

1 The faithless will be eternally lost

2. If the gospel believed doesn’t change the person, then it is not the True Gospel

We all face temptations every day, and there are times that we fail , however there is a difference between temptations and habitual sin, that have become a bondage and a heavy weight.

For the sipping saint- that one drink – may trigger a dependency upon alcohol -Alcohol is a deception Only true peace is found in God

For the christian that reads playboy for the articles, will have the bondage of pornography: hardcore porn.attach itself

The unbelieving  are those that put their trust for deliverance into things other than the power of the Holy Spirit to set one free

Deliverance requires faith, not persistence —trying to overcome by one’s own will guarantee’s failure every time

Proverbs 10:8——- The wise in heart will receive commandments, {scriptural counsel}  but a prating fool shall fall

prate | prāt |

verb [no object]

talk foolishly or at tedious length about something

I have known people that would ask what does the Bible have to say about such & such but when scriptural direction is given, they continued to talk  and not listen.

The knowledge to “do good” is found in

Jeremiah  6:16   STOP, right where you are, Look for the old godly way and walk in it. Travel it’s path and you will find rest for your souls.

The wisdom that comes from God, will bring truth that encourages you and I to continue on the paths of righteousness.

When we are going through a season of turmoil, we must recognize the source that causes it, then pray and ask God for the wisdom in dealing with it.

We must apply the Word of God, reject the new paths that have created by man and remember that the “old man has passed away and all things have become new.

2 Corinthians 5:17

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

In the eyes of God, The mistakes we have made in life, the sins that have been committed, the moment when we ask God to forgive in sincerity, He did and forgot.

 Jas 1:6–8.

6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways

 The New King James Version,

Doubt is an emotional response—- When trust is broken by words or actions of another,  doubt enters our mind regarding the “what” has been done.  If we do not address this immediately in the proper way, the emotional dam will eventually be breeched, and the chaos of a flood of emotions will rush out and we will be tossed and driven like a wave in the sea of life.

Doubt becomes a heavy weight in a relationship with people and spiritually with God.

We have examples found in the Bible where doubt separated people from God.

Satan said to Eve —“ Genesis 3:1 Can it really be that God has said”

Then Satan uses deception twisting the words that God did say.

In the your home, do not allow doubt of other ’s enter, especially so between man & wife

Tuff Question’s——- Have I created doubt in my relationship,

What tone of voice do I use,

Do I nag—

annoy or irritate (a person) with persistent fault-finding or continuous urging:

This can cause doubt in a relationship

Has Doubt has become a heavy weight.

Hebrews 12:1

let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

2. Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our Faith

Jame 1  Verse 6   But let him ask in faith

  1. BUT— [ when we have knowledge and understanding of God’s Word, we must apply
  2. LET——- {IS AN ACTION WORD -we become doers of God’s word and not hearers only James 1:22
  3. HIM—-applies to whomever takes the action
  4. ASK—    we have a purpose for our request
  5. IN——   qualifies the purpose of incorporating God’s Word
  6. Faith—— Is the opposite of doubt, Hebrews 12:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen!

Read and study Hebrews 11- which is a chronicle of those that has trusted God

It is good to remind ourselves of what GOD has done for us and what He has brought us through.

  1. SALVATION —-I believed in my heart & confessed with my mouth that Jesus died & rose again, forgiving me of my sins Romans 10:8,9—
  2. Healing-Isaiah 53:5  He was wounded for our transgressions,

He was bruised for our iniquities;

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,

and by His stripes we are healed.

3.  PROVISION—- Philippians 4:19

Meditate on These Things

Philippians 4:Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

2  May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord. 3. By his divine power,God has given to us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him.

These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world”s corruption caused by huan desires.

  • Salvation-Romans 10:9-10 (NLT2)
9  If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10  For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.

Desire The Higher Gifts

There is a question I have for you. We know that in the Christian thinking, it is mostly thought that each gift of the Holy Spirit as well as different ministries, such as Apostle, Prophet,  Evangelist, and Teacher are giving by the Lord to His church his people. But, in verse 31 of 1 Cor chapter 12 it said —–“earnestly DESIRE THE HIGHER GIFTS—–” And there is another Scripture that I don’t recall right now, that says “that he who desires the office of Bishop, desires a good thing”. So, my question is, how much depends on us in these gifting’s and  how much depends on the Lord and His Holy Spirit? Are these things done simply by the sovereign will of God, or are we able to help in His choosing?

1 Corinthians 12:1-31 (NLT2)

1  Now, dear brothers and sisters, regarding your question about the special abilities the Spirit gives us. I don’t want you to misunderstand this.

7  A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.

11  It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

31  So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gifts. But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all.

Acts 2:4 (KJV)

4  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

{ In order to have the gifts of Holy Spirit in operation, we must be filled with H.S. with the evidence of speaking with other tongues}

1 Co 12:7-1

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

the word of wisdom;

  word of knowledge

faith

   gifts of healing

working of miracles;

    prophecy

discerning of spirits;

   divers kinds of tongues;

interpretation of tongues:

1 Corinthians 12:11 (KJV) 11  But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit

dividing to every man severally as he will

I believe that as individuals we will recognize the gift  or gifts and the calling that God gives each.  29  Are we all apostles? Are we all prophets? Are we all teachers? Do we all have the power to do miracles? 30  Do we all have the gift of healing? Do we all have the ability to speak in unknown languages? Do we all have the ability to interpret unknown languages? Of course not!

I agree with the KJV as I have seen several different gifts of Holy Spirit in operation in one person.

I will use my mother as a reference, as she operated in all 9 gifts at various times, yet she said above all gifts she desired  the gift of discernment.

In light of the reference  scripture,  The Holy Spirit gives the gifts to man. Ro 11:29 the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Yet it is the responsibility of man to operate in the gifts they have when directed by Holy Spirit to do so.  1 Tim 4:14 instructs us not to neglect the spiritual gift that we have received.

Mathew 25:15 (NLT2) 15  He gave five bags of silver to one, two bags of silver to another, and one bag of silver to the last—dividing it in proportion to their abilities.  I urge each one do not hide your gifts or calling !  We are to utilize the abilities and gifts that God has given to each one !

SUBTLE THOUGHT’S

  • As a Christian have you noticed the attack on your mind has increased.
  • whether they may be “blast from the past”
  • suggestive thought’s that  you know that it’s an attack on the mind
  • is God real
  • why has my prayers not been answered

Many time’s the “emotional rollercoaster’s”  that we have experienced in life, the start up button is hit once again, triggered by a spoken word, a tragic event event expeirenced by yourself or a loved one.

Spiritual warfare is on the increase, the validity of God’s written Word is being challenged daily. When the onslaught occurs, remember that God is our help and shield, a very present help and a friend that is close to us in our time of need.

1 Peter 5:8 (NLT2)
8  Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

1 Thessalonians 5:6 (NLT2)
6  So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.

 {take controll  of your thought’s}

1 Peter 5:7 (NLT2)
7  Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

 AND

Ephesians 6:10 (NLT2)
10  A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
